About NPSL
We are a group of nonprofit employees and volunteer friends of nonprofits who believe that there is merit and much potential in collaborating and working in Second Life. Our group launched in May of 2006, under the leadership of TechSoup.org, the technology website for nonprofits.
Since our inception, we have held weekly meetings, every Friday from 8:30am-10:00am. We now hold these meetings in the Nonprofit Commons, our sim dedicated entirely to providing free space to nonprofit organizations (teleport SLURL)
We currently have 2 sims: Nonprofit Commons 1 on Plush Island and Nonprofit Commons 2 on Aloft Island.
We launched this blog to record the nonprofit activities of our community in Second Life, promote nonprofit events, discuss nonprofit best practices for fundraising and community building in-world and to learn how we can further our real world missions by learning from each other through these experimental efforts. If you would like to join this community, please click the Join Us tab above this page. If you would like to write blog entries on this community blog, if you have questions about joining this community, or if you would like to speak at one of our meetings, before our community of nonprofits, please contact please IM Creech Antwerp in Second Life or email megan [AT] techsoup.org or susan [AT] techsoup.org.
If you're putting Second Life to work on behalf of the nonprofit world, and you'd like to add your voice to ours, we welcome your participation. We hope you'll feel free to log in, start commenting on others' blog posts and write some of your own.
In addition to this blog, please visit our FAQ and our wiki to help contribute to our growing knowledge-base for this evolving community.
If you have any questions about the Nonprofit Commons please feel free to IM Glitteractica Cookie in Second Life.
Our guidelines are for contribution to this blog are simple:

- To blog here, you must be actively working with a non-profit organization on a paid, contractual or volunteer basis, and you must be engaged with Second Life. Again, we ask that you post under either your real name or your avatar's name.

Thanks for coming... and see you in-world!
